Coli spheroplasts&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bacterial membranes are not easy to patch clamp.\u00a0Since bacterial ion channels are of increasing interest,\u00a0we started to optimize the protocols for patch clamping\u00a0bacterial spheroplasts with the Port-a-Patch.\u00a0Bacterial spheroaplasts can be prepared up to a size of\u00a05 \u00b5m. They consist of the inner bacterial membrane. This\u00a0technique was first used for patch clamp experiments\u00a0by Boris Matrinac in 1987 and let to the discovery of\u00a0mechanosensitive channels in E. coli.
