These dodecameric assemblies are involved in gap junction-mediated cell\u2013cell communication allowing the passage of ions and small molecules between two neighboring cells. Mutations in Cx26 lead to the disruption of gap junction-mediated intercellular communication with consequences such as hearing loss and skin disorders. We show here that a mutant of Cx26, M34A, forms an active hemichannel in lipid bilayer experiments. A comparison with the Cx26 wild-type is presented. Two different techniques using micro\/nano-structured substrates for the formation of pore-suspending lipid membranes are used. We reconstituted the Cx26 wild-type and Cx26M34A into artificial lipid bilayers and observed single channel activity for each technique, with conductance levels of around 35, 70 and 165 pS for the wild-type. The conductance levels of Cx26M34A were found at around 45 and 70 pS.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"featured_media":0,"template":"","products_tags":[45,129],"resource_type":[75],"application_areas":[99],"therapeutic_areas":[],"target_categories":[341],"target_families":[342],"targets":[227],"resource_keyword":[],"class_list":["post-4779","resource_library","type-resource_library","status-publish","hentry","products_tags-port-a-patch","products_tags-vesicle-prep-pro","resource_type-publication","application_areas-pores-and-toxins","target_categories-pores-and-toxins","target_families-connexins","targets-cx26"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/resource_library\/4779","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/resource_library"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/resource_library"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=4779"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"products_tags","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/products_tags?post=4779"},{"taxonomy":"resource_type","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/resource_type?post=4779"},{"taxonomy":"application_areas","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/application_areas?post=4779"},{"taxonomy":"therapeutic_areas","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/therapeutic_areas?post=4779"},{"taxonomy":"target_categories","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/target_categories?post=4779"},{"taxonomy":"target_families","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/target_families?post=4779"},{"taxonomy":"targets","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/targets?post=4779"},{"taxonomy":"resource_keyword","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/nanion.com\/zh-hans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/resource_keyword?post=4779"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
