Here we show that the major contributors to these symptoms are venom peptides that modulate the activity of voltage-gated sodium (NaV) channels, reducing their voltage threshold for activation and inhibiting channel inactivation. These peptide toxins are likely vertebrate-selective, consistent with a primarily defensive function. They emerged early in the Formicidae lineage and may have been a pivotal factor in the expansion of ants.

Read more in the publication here.

[42
75
50,53
56,143
61
332
["post-11614","resource_library","type-resource_library","status-publish","hentry","products_tags-syncropatch-384","resource_type-publication","application_areas-ion-channels","application_areas-assay-development-and-validation","therapeutic_areas-pain","therapeutic_areas-assay-development-and-validation","target_categories-voltage-gated-ion-channels","target_families-nav-channels
["GET
