RBC quality is decreased over storage time in a donor-dependent manner. Here, we want to emphasize that besides quality control, one has to further think about improving the RBC quality during storage, i.e., addressing storage lesions. A component of the storage lesion is the dissipation of the cation gradients across the RBC membrane, i.e., K+ will leak out of the RBC and Na+ enters the cell. So far, the molecular cause of the cation gradient dissipation remains elusive. To this end, we like to present a hypothesis for the involvement of the transient receptor potential channel of vanilloid type 2 (TRPV2).

[42,44
75
50,53,76
143
338
339
297

post-13289","resource_library","type-resource_library","status-publish","hentry","products_tags-syncropatch-384","products_tags-patchliner","resource_type-publication","application_areas-ion-channels","application_areas-assay-development-and-validation","application_areas-drug-discovery","therapeutic_areas-assay-development-and-validation","target_categories-other-ion-channels","target_families-trp-channels","targets-trpv2
["GET
