            Summary:<\/p>\n

            This joint partner session\u00a0will focus on\u00a0the characterization of\u00a0drug effects on\u00a0human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived\u00a0cardiomyocytes\u00a0(hiPSC-CM).\u00a0The use of\u00a0these\u00a0cell models\u00a0continues to increase\u00a0in the assessment of\u00a0cardiac\u00a0safety and toxicological side effects of newly developed compounds, due to\u00a0their reproducibility and low ethical concern.\u00a0\u00a0 However, the obstacles\u00a0presented\u00a0from using\u00a0a\u00a02D culture\u00a0system,\u00a0immature\u00a0cellular\u00a0phenotypes, or\u00a0serum-containing media for chronic\u00a0dosing\u00a0assays raise concerns over\u00a0potential\u00a0non-physiological responses in preclinical drug development\u00a0and safety. Here, we will introduce solutions to these\u00a0hurdles\u00a0by using innovative\u00a0pro-maturation\u00a0technologies\u00a0in 2D and 3D\u00a0specialized cell culture\u00a0conditions and newly developed\u00a0protocols for\u00a0recording\u00a0cardiac activity.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Characterization,\u00a0pro-maturation,\u00a0and toxicity\u00a0assays\u00a0using\u00a0iCell Cardiomyocytes2\u00a0for\u00a0automated patch clamp (Patchliner\u00a0Dynamite) and contractile force recordings (FLEXcyte\u00a096)\u00a0in mono and co-culture with\u00a0human\u00a0iPSC-\u00a0derived iCell Cardiac fibroblasts\u00a0will be presented.<\/p>\n
