Webinar series: Beyond the Plasma Membrane

Membrane transport is not limited to the plasma membrane. Organelles such as the endoplasmic reticulum, lysosomes, and mitochondria rely on transporters, pumps, and ion channels to maintain their unique environments and control essential cellular processes.

Beyond the Plasma Membrane is a webinar series exploring organellar membrane transport, its biological and therapeutic relevance, and the experimental approaches used to study it.

Through talks from scientists working across different organelles and biological systems, the series highlights how functional measurements can provide insights into transport mechanisms, regulation, pharmacology, and disease.

Who should attend?

Beyond the Plasma Membrane is for scientists working on, or trying to gain functional access to membrane proteins beyond the cell surface.

The series will be particularly relevant for researchers working with:

  • Lysosomes, mitochondria, ER/SR, and other intracellular membranes
  • Organellar transporters, pumps, and ion channels
  • Native and reconstituted membrane preparations
  • Membrane protein mechanism and pharmacology
  • Functional electrophysiology and SSM-based approaches
  • Assay development, compound profiling, and drug discovery

Whether your challenge is accessing suitable organellar material, measuring native function, understanding transport mechanisms, or developing a robust screening assay, the series brings together practical approaches and real experimental examples from researchers in the field.
