Port-a-Patch miniの使用方法は非常に簡単です。顕微鏡やマニピュレーター、防振台などのセットアップは必要なく、測定用のチップに溶液と細胞を追加するだけで、コンピューター制御されたサクションコントロールユニットが細胞を自動的に捕まえ、ギガシール形成、ホールセル形成までを自動的に行います。測定溶液の交換や化合物の添加はマイクロピペットを使って手動で行うことができますので、化合物の消費量を最小限に抑えることが可能です。本装置はマニュアルパッチクランプの代替法、また教育用のツールとしても有用です。わずかなトレーニングで誰でも簡単に高品質のパッチクランプデータを記録可能です。

Port-a-Patchは記録用の本体、圧力制御用のサクションコントロールユニット、Tecella社のパッチクランプアンプとノートパソコン（オプション）で構成されます。
